Bryan runs a tight ship on Desroches Island. He heads up the activities center called Cast-A-Way and it is a 5 star operation.
Given that Bryan has been a South African competitive angler his whole life, his son Wesley is the youngest professional fisherman for his country – he is also involved in starting fishing television in South Africa, and his wife has a shared passion for the ocean, moving to an Island was a perfect fit for this water family.
Efficient and organized Bryan describes how he maintains a standard of excellence at Cast-A-Way. His procedure is:
- Personal
- Specific
- Customized
- Goal orientated
- Outcomes based
He strives to meet and achieve whatever guests desired goals and experiences are. Whether is be to catch a Dog tooth tuna or go fly fishing on the flats to any other facet of angling you require, Bryan will work out a customized plan to make it happen for you.
As precise as the number of fish species you’d like to catch, to the exact weight, he will shape your experience to satisfy you.
“I aim to achieve 90% of what my clients want. You keep persevering until their dream becomes their reality”.
And although Desroches is known as a world class fishing destination, it’s not only fishing that’s available to you: any water sport activity is an option. From diving, to snorkeling to sunset cruises to ocean exertions… the options are wide and varied.
Bryan will go through all of them with you during the Island orientation or you can email him before booking your trip to discuss your options and an action plan.
If water sports are something new for you, training will be provided on the island. Even diving courses available to train you up to a master diver status are available to you.
Desroches Island (6km long and 1km wide) is positioned on a volcanic atoll, no deeper than 30meters for 17 kms around. Past the 17km mark of the rim, the depth drops to 1300 meters. This provides incredible fishing opportunities. Bryan recons that in season, catches will exceed ten thousand. Of these, 95% are released and 5% are caught and eaten.
His favorite spot in Desroches Island is known as the Aquarium. “Picture the best aquarium tank you’ve ever seen and times the visuals by 10. It’s truly incredible”
