Earth Hour at Desroches

On March 29th 2014 at 8.30pm, we joined millions of people, cities, destinations and attractions all over the world by turning off the power for one hour. Earth hour is the largest voluntary environmental movement on the planet.

We are wholly committed to the environment and by shutting down our generators, we saved hundreds of litres of fuel from being burned.

To celebrate, we planned an evening of fire lit festivities on our island, in the Amirante Archipelago, for our guests to enjoy.

The evening was themed around Eat, Pray, Love and included:

EAT:

6.30pm: Management team meet and greet at the L'Amirantes Bar

7.30pm: Dinner on the beach: Feet in the sand

Dinner was an indulgent feast, featuring Italian, Indian and Indonesian house specialities, including a spit roasted lamb with malt and paprika, Tandoor prawns and garlic naan bread.

PRAY:

8.15: Light a "Floating candle" as an opportunity in admiration.

LOVE:

8.30pm: Escape Spa Angels "Over the moon" massage teasers, under the stars, by candlelight.

SUPPORT:

8.30pm: Complete electricity shut down for 60 minutes including all communication other than the satellite communication (in case of emergency): no internet, air conditioning, generated electricity etc.

9.30pm: Jump Start: The power was turned back on!

10.00pm: Bon fire and home made marshmallows… till late…
